![]() Yes, I checked the lastest version of wwj, this KMLViewer could load kmz model without waring but throw a collada exception, that means KMZ model parser is on their way. It looks like the worldwind team is implementing an internal collada loader, and all this attaching an external loader thing may be a thing of the past. Since you are in 3D model loader testing mode, can you benchmark the ones you tried against the Ardor3D loader we have in jaxb-collada. Implementing this involves also an integration of the model rendering with the cache system of NASA WorldWind. This is the equivalent of a tiled pyramid system for a 3d models dataset. This allows the KML Viewer to load and render only the desired models corresponding to the position of the camera. This dataset uses the KML super overlay system (Region tag, explained here : ). There is already some data available such as in Berlin ( website, KML file). I think that the ultimate objective of a Collada loader is to handle complex KML files that contains cities in 3D. I have tested it with some models there is lot of exceptions and nothing displayed but this is very promising. I have saw that a Collada loader is being developped right now by the Nasa WordWind team (in the package .collada). I share this code now to participate to the elaboration of a full open source KML+Collada loader into NASA WorldWind. I have started this project about one year ago when i did not know the existence of Ardor 3D. There is lot of work of optimization, tighter integration with NASA WorldWind and fixes that can not be done because of the closed source. Whatnick.Hi whatnick, the non open source license is also an issue for me. I admit fewer formats are supported for 3D models from a quick review but licensing hassles will dissuade me. ![]() What was your reason for choosing Bonzai over say Ardor, which has more generous licensing. Though bonzai looks good, it is not under an OS licence. ![]()
